Stag Power Rentals supplies diesel generators from 20kW to 2,000kW to the businesses, hospitals, and port operations that keep Galveston Island running, dispatched from our own yard in Dickinson just across the causeway. Every unit in our fleet is diesel-only and load-bank tested before it leaves the yard, and our crews have powered planned and emergency operations alike — events, commercial properties, healthcare facilities, construction sites, and industrial operations — across the island and the wider Gulf Coast.
What Galveston needs from a generator rental depends on the job — standby power for a hospital wing, temporary power for a construction turnaround, or emergency backup ahead of a hurricane. See our hurricane contingency power plan for storm-season options, call 1-844-STAG-PWR, or request a quote to get started.
Galveston’s modern seawall exists because of the 1900 hurricane, still the deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history, and the island has kept building around that lesson ever since — through Hurricane Ike in 2008 and Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Today the island’s economy runs on the Port of Galveston’s cruise and cargo terminals, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), the historic Strand District, and a tourism trade that depends on reliable power to keep running.
That mix of critical healthcare infrastructure, port operations, and a barrier-island tourism economy means backup power isn’t optional here — it’s part of how the island operates every storm season.

No city in our service area understands storm risk like Galveston, home to the deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history and still squarely in the path of Gulf hurricanes today, as Ike and Harvey both showed. Our hurricane contingency power plan reserves diesel generator capacity for home-market customers ahead of landfall so hospitals, port facilities, and commercial properties aren’t left waiting when the island needs power most.
Stag Power Rentals supports healthcare facilities including campuses near UTMB, commercial property in the Strand District and tourism corridor, municipalities and government, and emergency response and disaster recovery operations across the island.

| 300kW | Larger commercial facilities, hospital wings | Healthcare, port administration |
| 600kW | Industrial process loads, large emergency standby | Emergency response & disaster recovery |
| 1500kW | High-demand institutional and utility-scale loads | Hospital campuses, port operations |
| Factor | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Running Load | Continuous power draw of connected equipment |
| Startup Load | Inrush current from motors, pumps, and compressors |
| Voltage / Phase | Single-phase vs. three-phase, voltage compatibility |
| Load Sequence | Order equipment comes online to avoid overload |
| Runtime | Expected hours of operation and fuel planning |
| Distribution | Cabling, transfer switches, and panel configuration |
| Factor | Impact on Cost |
|---|---|
| Generator Size | Larger kW capacity increases rental rate |
| Rental Duration | Longer terms typically lower the daily/weekly rate |
| Delivery & Access | Causeway and island site access affect logistics cost |
| Fuel | Diesel consumption scales with load and runtime |
| Power Distribution | Cabling, switchgear, and paralleling equipment |
| Emergency Deployment | Rush or pre-storm dispatch may affect scheduling |
